A great introduction to Highland Park's famed heathery peat smoke, the 12 Year Old is matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, so it's spicy, citrusy, and full of smoky aromatics. This is part of the Orcadian distillery's impressive core range, which was treated to a smart new look in 2024.
Fresh, clean and very aromatic. Floral notes abound the senses with a light grassiness. Notes of creamy Manuka honey and a touch of juicy citrus with cream and a well-balanced sweetness.
Rather full with a pleasant depth. Lurking somewhere in the substratum a grilled orange lies. Notes of granary toast and green tea with jasmine. A touch of sweetness.
Quite long with peppery spice and wood shavings.
Great smoky flavour, really well rounded full of caramel and vanilla. Lovely colour and aroma. As with all malts, it's best drunk neat with ice cubes, but that's a personal choice. Great value for the price
Great bottle for yourself or for a gift, not overpriced and well balanced, goes well on its own or with a mixer but nice hint of vanilla/ caramel, citrus and smoke but not overly strong
I'm not usually a fan of peated or smoky whiskey however, this is subtle enough not to overtake the taste. I would recommend it for people who wouldn't usually try smoky whisky. You will not be disappointed. Good aftertaste.
Ok but not brilliant, nose a bit strange, I'll get thru' it but not buy again.
Not bad is simply how I’d review this. For the price there are clearly much better single malts, but also this isn’t going to upset anyone either. It’s fine, basically.
