Highland Park

Single Malt
The stupendous first bottling in Highland Park's Valhalla Collection, showcasing Orkney's Scandinavian connections. This first edition was made in honour of Thor, the Norse God of Thunder and supposed creator of the Cliffs of Yesnaby on Orkney's west coast. A staggeringly good cask strength 16 year old malt, packaged in a frame inspired by a viking long ship!
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Big, bold notes of stem ginger, smoke, antique shops, calves leather, malt, cigars (both unlit and smoking) prune juice, treacle and raisin sweetness.
Tangy, rich and full, it envelopes the palate in notes of tropical fruits (mango, guava), as well as nectarine in syrup, nutmeg, dried ginger, blackcurrant and custard. A plume of coastal air with thick woodsmoke develops. A little salty butter.
Powerful and muscular finish, ginger, nutmeg, cocoa and espresso on the tail.
Good dram from this new range. Same counts for the new expression Loki. Although completely sold out in the UK I've heard that they have still quite a lot at one Dutch website. They also ship all around the world there. I use them regularly to send whisky presents and business gifts to Asia, USA and Russia.
Hello, just to follow up on the Highland Park THOR, thank you for the intial response to my inquiry. The only release was in Toronto and I was able to find a couple bottles left through the LCBO in Canada. They will be sending THOR to the LCBO in Ottawa from Toronto. Although the this scotch has a heafty price point I am sure from the reviews I have read thus far it is worth every cent($249.95). Thank you again
I am afraid to say that Thor was released in early 2012 and was available in Canada that Spring. Keep your eyes peeled for LOKI in 2013 though. This will be followed by two further releases from the Valhalla Collection, one in 2014 and the final one in 2015. - The Chaps at Master of Malt
Hello, one of the review read that we should be receiving THOR in January. Clarify Jan 2014, or 2013. Thank you
I must admit I was really blown away by this dram. I'm quite new to the world of whisky, atleast in any serious way, but this is nonetheless my favourite so far.
