Behold, Double Barrel Bourbon from the Heaven's Door range. Created by the one and only Bob Dylan and Marc Bushala (co-founder of Angel's Envy Bourbon), this expression blends together two straight bourbons, each with distinct mash bills. The first boasts 70% corn, 22% rye, and 8% malted barley, while the second leans heavier on corn with 77% corn, 15% rye, and 8% malted barley.
Each bourbon is aged for at least five years in new oak from Louisville’s Kelvin Cooperage, then blended and matured for an additional 6-12 months in Tonnellerie Radoux barrels. Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, this blend showcases meticulous craftsmanship and has earned Double Gold in San Francisco, Whisky of the Year in London, and 93 points from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
Waves of maple syrup and toasted cereal grains mingle with a delicate nuttiness and subtle oak spice. Sweet notes of crème brûlée emerge on a second pass.
Caramel sweetness leads the way, layered with rich dark cherry and a zesty pop of Meyer lemon. Notes of vanilla pod and baked bread weave through a backdrop of dry oak.
A crescendo of oak spice softens into lingering vanilla and toasted pecans, leaving a warm, luxurious impression.
Never been the biggest fan of Bob Dylan’s music.. but oh my word.. can makes great Bourbon (or whoever he’s in partnership with does) so much punch and flavour.. epic to sip (careful it’s 50%abv!, or add a touch of water or ginger (not coke.. it’s a waste of good whiskey)
A beautiful drop. Very smooth, full of flavour. Gets the thumbs up from me, no doubt.
