The Speyside region is home to a large amount of whisky distilleries - and one of them distilled this single malt Scotch whisky, which has been presented as the Speyside expression as part of Hamiltons region-specific range. But which one was it? 'Tis a mystery...

As others have said, the screw top is a sign of things to come. Can’t expect too much at this price, but this was disappointing. Very little on the nose. Initial taste okay. Finish left me with dry mouth.
There are some generally bizarre differences in the reviews I've seen for this. The bottle I tried was cloyingly sweet, almost rancid tasting. It is almost completely undrinkable, resembling something like Yukon Jack or Southern Comfort, with only a hint of a whiskey smell. Did I just get a bad bottle or something? I don't think I've ever tasted a single malt this bad. Nose: vanilla and putrescence Pallet: Yukon Jack Finish: pepper, machine oil, gag-reflex
OK, I've had a worse single malt ...but not by far. The packaging is attractive but a screw top rings alarm bells and the whisky kinda matches the screw top. The Glen Grant Major's Res & the Glen Moray Elgin Classic both come in cheaper and both are some way better, IMO. I'd take the Glen Moray. This is rather thin with little sweetness or depth. To be fair, it is cheap, single malt scotch, so that's what I'll be ...fair. This tastes like cheap, single malt scotch.
Smooth and sweet, it's an easy single malt for the novice. Typical of Speyside there is little peat and sweetnes with a bit of spice. A bit of oak and hay lingers in the aftertaste. For the price it's a good single malt.
If you don't like heavy peated or the distinctive western isle type, it is light enough for the woman who likes a dram but on the light side, enjoy.
