Green Isle is a multi-award-winning smoky blended Scotch whisky featuring a core of Islay malt, alongside Speyside malt and Lowland grain whiskies chosen to complement the aforementioned Islay spirit. An approachable, beautifully balanced blend, boasting smoky depth as well as light fruit and fragrant spice. From the makers of The Character of Islay Whisky Company, this expression takes its name from early descriptions of Islay, as well as from the title of novelist Neil Gunn's book The Green Isle of the Great Deep, which talks of an island off the west coast of Scotland only accessible via a whirlpool. That sound familiar to you...?
Softly toasted barley, warming oak, honey glazed apples and cut grass.
Vanilla pod earthiness builds on the palate, paired with coastal peat, pear drops and crushed peppercorns.
Lingering wafts of dry smoke and buttery biscuits.
This was my third or fourth purchase and I have previously reviewed Green Isle. I still think it's a great blend and an excellent substitute for those who remember the old Black Bottle (in green bottles ?).
Very surprised just how nice this is for a £30 blend. Acts as a good night cap alternative to your prized whiskies when you really should be in bed.
Was recommended in the Sunday Times so bought a bottle. Didn’t live up to the praise in my view. Harsh
Am enjoying Green Isle. Just enough peatiness and smokiness. A good one! I normally stick to single malts, so this is an interesting variation.
Just back here buying a second bottle and reading the reviews. Clearly polarising but if you actually like Scotch whisky, this beats most entry level malts and is the best blended scotch under £50 I’ve ever tasted.
