A blended Scotch whisky from William Grant & Sons, this blend boasts a core of the beloved grain whisky from Girvan, bolstered by a selection of over 25 malts and grains from across Scotland.
A light, buttery nose with hints of barley, toasty oak, plum wine and spice.
Custard apples and toffee on the palate, with hints of grist, honeycomb and beeswax. All rather floral too.
Good, zesty finish with toasty barley clinging 'til the very last.
I'm used to single malts (especially Islay malts) but I thought this was very tasty! Barley sugar, maybe a little burnt orange? Anyway, smooth and eminently drinkable. BTW I drink it straight, no ice, no water, no mixers. And the reviews that say it was undrinkable are simply absurd.
I've tried dozens of blended scotch whiskeys in the $35 or less per half gallon price range over the past few years & I keep coming back to Grants. In fact, the cost per half gallon has actually gone from $29 to $25 here in SC, so wow, talk about a bargain. Great flavor, nice rich color, all kinds of flavor notes & smooth. I'll drink Grants over Dewars white label any day of the way & I do!
At the end of the day, when everything slows down, the Whisky from the Grant's family does that little bit of company, like a reliable old friend. Not fancy, for a fair price, it's a very good Blended, an everyday go to. Exactly what I expect it to be.
It is a whisky, not a whiskey as so many people on here keep calling it. Not bad blend for the price. Pretty much standard really.
still one of the best with regards to price and palate delivery… over the years, it has stated the course… masterfully blended… on sale in Pennsylvania November 2021… there’s nothing acrid going on… it’s mellow buttery floral fruity toasty in perfect proportions! it’s the american Evan Williams of ???????!
