Nomad Outland Whisky is a collaborative blended whisky from renowned master distiller Richard Paterson and expert Sherry producers Gonzalez Byass. It is made with a selection of over 30 malt and grain whiskies aged between five and eight years old in Scotland. Following that, the whisky is shipped off to Jerez, where it is finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for a year before it is bottled. Richard Paterson and Gonzalez Byass' master distiller, Antonio Flores, experimented with different Sherry casks, including oloroso and fino, but ultimately decided on the Pedro Ximénez casks for this enticing expression.
Raisins, walnuts and orange peel – sherry heaven.
Peppery, fruity and fresh initially, followed by walnuts and molasses.
Sweet and sticky.

I came across this by chance. Having a connection to the name Nomad it caught my eye. But a Scotch style whisky not made in Scotland, NO WAY! Two days later I bought a bottle. I am sure glad I did. The wife and I enjoyed a couple of glasses on this Christmas day. A nice nose, add a drop or two of water and even better. I highly recommend. Next time it will be with a good cigar.
A friend of mine recently told me about a whisky he found in a bar. He has been looking for a way to get into whisky and this is where he found it. Turns out he's going to grow up to be a bourbon/Irish whisky type, which is fine by me. This is a very good whisky to get you started if you have a sweet tooth. At a great price, I wouldn't mind making it one of my go-to's after a quiet day.
I was surprised to see this only had 4 stars. We drink a lot of bourbon and rye here but certainly have a penchant for whisky too. This was tasted along with 5 others on the night we corked it and at the end of the night was a huge success. As a new addition to our collection we started the night with it the next week. Loved it.
Delicious and great value for the price. Has hints of raisin and honey but its not syrupy. Different and tasty, a nice and pleasant surprise, great bottle as well.
In many ways a whisky for the non-whisky drinker! Very smooth and with clear sherry influences, it is amazing value for money. Infinitely nicer as an "everyday" whisky than other whiskies in this price range. I generally head for 20+ year old whiskies and invest too, so I'm not averse to spending enough to enjoy a wee dram, and I suspect the usual bunch will sneer at a lack of complexity (started already below?), but let's just acknowledge that a nice bacon roll can be very enjoyable and we don't have to eat fillet steak every day! Well worth buying. I've awarded 5 stars to offset the whingers!
