The Whisky Maker's Cut expression from Glenrothes' Soleo Collection is completely matured in first-fill sherry seasoned casks, resulting in punchy notes of orange, cinnamon and dried fruit. The whole range is named after the process of sun-drying grapes in preparation for sherry production, hence the particularly heavy focus on sherry throughout the series.
Orange oil and blackberry jam, with drying oak in the background.
Juicy sherry, crunchy brown sugar, a touch of boozy red wine, macadamia nuts.
Sweet with chocolate and dried fruit.
$34.83 - $99.63
Nose is absolutely sensational! From here onwards it is still pretty good although I don't believe the sherry casks are all they are cracked up to be. Needs another 5 years in cask. This is the trade-off for the price.
I too was a fan of the vintage expressions and felt a bit betrayed when they eliminated the entire line, after selling us on the concept for more than a decade. I fully expected to hate this bottle, and then I nosed it and tasted it and remembered why I fell in love with the brand. It’s damn good. And this bottle is a hidden gem in a line of age statement bottles
Picked up a bottle of this the other day. Absolute stunner. Going to have to grab another to share with my family at xmas time, as this one will be gone by then.
My new go-to sherry cask!! Creamy, sweet and moorish.
Stunning Glenrothes at 48.8%! You're in for a hell of treat.
