This is a fabulous whisky from Glenrothes, aged for more than 20 years in a mix of Spanish and American oak. The result is a classic Winter fireside dram!
Spicy and fruity with notes of Red apples, berry fruits, oak and vanilla. Some nutmeg, allspice and Madeira cake. Musty orange zest.
Creamy, zesty and spicy palate which opens on sweet malt, Fruitcake, custard and just a hint of smoke.

Hi there! Apologies for the delay in responding. We have looked into this and we believe that the 'approved' essentially marks the date when the cask was first selected, before leaving the whisky in for another 3 years and bottling. --The Chaps at Master of Malt
bottled in 2011 but approved in 2008. what is that mean? after 2008 it all kept not in casks or what?
The current batch of Glenrothes 1988 (valid as of 4th August 2014) was bottled in 2011. However, please note that this information may change in future, as these whiskies are released in batches, similarly to Balblair. --The Chaps at Master of Malt
What is the bottling year of this Glenrothes?
I'm a new scotch drinker (under 2 years) so I have limited experience. It's not the most expensive bottle I've purchased, but it is the best whisky I've tasted. Partially because I prefer smooth sweeter scotch, but also because this batch is so damn good. There's no point in reviewing it because the description is dead on. It's silky smooth, complex, delicious from beginning to end, and worth every penny. If you love scotch, you need to own a bottle. Anyone who rates this less than 9/10 has either been ruined forever by drinking too many $500+ bottles, or they just don't like sweet rich whiskys. Buy it, enjoy it, and remember it forever.
