A dram from Glenrothes is always grand, and when it's been treated to a finish in a sherry cask, you know you're in for a treat! This single malt joins the Darkness range of independent bottlings, and thus spent the final part of its 12 year maturation resting up in Oloroso sherry casks. Oozing with fruity sweetness and silky caramel, this is a heavenly sipper from Speyside.
Silky caramel with juicy notes of melon and mashed banana nestled beside floral tobacco and a hint of pipe smoke.
That sherry cask has worked its magic, with layer upon layer of dried fruit, burnt sugar sweetness, and woody spice mingling with roasted malt and charred oak.
Yet more candied fruits and sweet baking spices, with a touch of smoke poking through.
