Glenrothes single malt, independently bottled by Duncan Taylor for the Battlehill series. Matured for a dozen years, this splendid Speysider was treated to a finish in ex-Cognac casks, imparting layers of fruity character and rich oak to the toffee sweet malt at its core.
Vanilla custard, poached apples, drizzles of caramel, and leathery oak.
Roasted nuts and earthy coffee open the way for honeyed raisins and sweet, biscuity barley.
Baking spice sweetness finishes things off, with a touch of clove, candied orange, and lingering dried fruits.
