Glenmorangie
Scotland
Single Malt
The Duthac comes from Glenmorangie's range of expressions originally released for the Travel Retail market. This particular single malt, name after St. Duthac whose resting place sits at the centre of the Royal Burgh of Tain, has been part finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry and virgin oak casks before being bottled at 43% ABV. Plenty of rich, mellow elements throughout this one (as you'd expect from Glenmorangie), with touches of sticky PX sweetness and herb-y spiciness.
Delicious hints of dark fruits, oak, sherry and vanilla. Having a wee dram of this at the moment. Mmmm
I thought it will be a good Scotch in Glenmorangie popular brands, especially when it says fit for a King, I did not really care about the age. But I did not like the taste. It was disappointed to me.
Got a 1L bottle at London Heathrow in Oct 2019 while heading back to USA. For the price it's not bad. Big difference between the Duthac finished in a PX sherry cask and a Quinta Ruban in a port cask or La Santa in Olorosso cask. The Duthac is flavorful, somewhat drier than other Glenmorangies, not nearly as sweet and fruity as other Gms. A wee bit harsher on the nose. Spicy, long aftertaste. Definitely a nice dram, but if I could never get another bottle, I'd be ok with it. I'd be VERY sad if I could never get another Quinta Ruban or La Santa, however.
It's good, but not up to the level of other moranges, expecting too much disappointed me.
great . fit for a King like me
