    Glenmorangie The Cadboll

The Cadboll is a Glenmorangie single malt originally released for the Travel Retail market which was initially aged in bourbon casks before enjoying a finishing period in casks that once held Muscat and Sémillion wines.

The name comes from The Cadboll Cup, a silver goblet dating back to the 16th century from which the Macleods of Cadboll enjoyed their wine. Not quite on the level of the Holy Grail, but at some point someone probably said "Let's go get that Cadboll Cup from those people," and started some sort of quest. Anyway, the name comes from that vessel and inspired the use of wine casks for this release.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Cookie dough with plenty of raisins, dried orange peel and chocolate chips. Hints of lemon verbena grassiness, too.

    Palate

Thyme honey, melted butter, green apple boiled sweeties, aromatic barley.

    Finish

Red fruit sweetness balanced by rounded malt.

    Quite enjoyable

An excellent, subtle taste that is very smooth.

    Thin and oily

Oh dear. This one is very disappointing. Far better candidates for a sweeter shot with oomph; consider the GlenDronach Port Cask, or the Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 year old ( why on earth discontinue the superior 12 year old?)

    Super smooth

Very Smooth with some finishing heat. Tastes classy

The perfect travel edition whisky launched since quite a while

I never liked sweet whiskies until, I had this one. Glenmorangie Cadboll a perfect combination of the right amount of sweetness and floral notes a long with the smoothness of butter. Overall worth a pick if you want to try something new and you won't be disappointed unless you just crave for smoky whiskies.

    Okay...not bad, not great

Got this more for the wife who enjoys sweet whiskies. I'm more of an Islay man, and also enjoy the rich Highlanders like GlenGoyne CS. This one is smooth with classic Glenmorangie fruits and a slight floral note. I don't get brioche and butter and what not, but the wine sweetness is very evident right from the nose. Sweet malt and fruitiness. Can't complain, nothing memorable either. Personally I enjoyed the Quinta Ruban much more.
