Oloroso sherry cask-finished single malt from Glenmorangie. The word 'Lasanta' derives from the Gaelic for warmth and passion.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

I couldn't find the clean sweetness and mellowing I like so much in other double cask or finish expressions (Benriach 15 PX,or Aberlour 16 for example. Maybe I am too influenced by the fact that I'm not fond of Glenmorangie original style that i recognize too well in every 12 years finish (except Quinta Ruban that appealed me a little more). It's a quality for me...in case you like the original expression. Maybe the brand new Artein made me change my mind but that's right that it's a 15 years maturation...
Another fine offering from the Morangie distillery..the superior qualities of this and the Q Ruban take Glenmorangie to the top table of distilling....Never can decide which I prefer...struth
For me this dram is only lovely in smaller sips. I prefer the Quinta Ruban Port finished version, it has a fuller taste. I enjoyed my bottle but I doubt I would buy it again, mainly due to the Macallan 10 year Sherry Cask!
This is how Xmas Pud would taste in It's Wonderful Life. I tried it alongside the Bruichladdich Pedro Ximénez and while I concede it isn't necessarily a like for like comparison, to my mind the Lasanta blew it away. It's incredibly smooth, warm and dessert-like. One for wood-panelled rooms with roaring fires and leather upholstery. Phenomenal stuff and worth twice the price.
At first didn't like it much due to the almost overpowering taste of sultanas on the palate..but after a few more I found it grew on me..rather surprisingly..I would definitely recommend this one for those who like a rich yet smooth and spicy single malt.
