Glenmorangie
Scotland
Single Malt
A limited edition release from the legendary Glenmorangie distillery. A Midwinter Night's Dram celebrates a tradition in which the Glenmorangie Master Distiller would treat The Sixteen Men of Tain to a special whisky during the festive season as a thank you for their hard work over the year. This single malt features whisky drawn from select bourbon casks and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in an expression full of Christmas spices, sweet fruit, and nutty elements.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
You've got juicy raisin, red apple and orange peel at first. It then moves on to cinnamon, almond and stroopwafel notes as it develops.
Caramel, milk chocolate with hazelnuts and a little warming touch of white pepper. The fruits from the nose return on the mid-palate, with a hint of candied glaze.
Final notes of orange peel, malted milk biscuits and a lingering touch of spice.
Truly awful. Unless 'smooth' is all you are looking for - in which case go ahead and drink it. GLOWS with added caramel, this is NAS (ie: young) spirit that has been dumped into newish bourbon and sherry casks to acquire some flavour and round it out. The finish is SO short. Forget all the marketing tat about 'sixteen men of tain' instead think about 'the marketing department found a new wheeze to dump young whisky on the market'
A beautiful Christmas gift.
I was a bit dubious about this but bought it anyway and I'm glad I did: it's so smooth, fruity with a light spicy finish. I'm saving some of this for an annual pre Christmas get together with my climbing friends. I think it'll go down just fine with the snow on the ground. That's the plan anyway .... if it last that long!
so succulent it betrayed the fruity taste that it soon disappeared like a soft tender taste filling every pallet with sweetness and a desire not to swallow and keep it refreshed in the mouth
Smooth and tasty!
