    Glenmorangie A Midwinter Night's Dram

A limited edition release from the legendary Glenmorangie distillery. A Midwinter Night's Dram celebrates a tradition in which the Glenmorangie Master Distiller would treat The Sixteen Men of Tain to a special whisky during the festive season as a thank you for their hard work over the year. This single malt features whisky drawn from select bourbon casks and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in an expression full of Christmas spices, sweet fruit, and nutty elements.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

You've got juicy raisin, red apple and orange peel at first. It then moves on to cinnamon, almond and stroopwafel notes as it develops.

    Palate

Caramel, milk chocolate with hazelnuts and a little warming touch of white pepper. The fruits from the nose return on the mid-palate, with a hint of candied glaze.

    Finish

Final notes of orange peel, malted milk biscuits and a lingering touch of spice.

    Sweet and Fruity.

Nose: Orange, Toffee, Dried Fruit and Walnut. Tasting: Rich & Fairly Viscous. Palate: Sweet Toffee and Orange. Finish: Quite Long and Sweet. Most enjoyable and quite distinctive. Complimented a smooth lighter ale very well.

Smells nice, shame about the finish

Finally got round to opening this on Saturday night. As soon as the bottle is opened the lovely aroma of Christmas pudding hits you. The initial flavour is good with fruit and a hint of vanilla, but unmistakably a Glenmorngie. All good at this point until you swallow it and all I got was rancid orange peel. Tried adding a splash of water but this seemed to make it worse. This is a let down however I will let the bottle sit for a few weeks then try again. This may be to some peoples taste but not mine at this moment.

Good but there are better Glenmorangies

This is a nice, big single malt. A Christmas pudding malt with currants and raisins and nuts and peel and spice. I'm yet to have a poor Glenmorangie. However, I think the La Santa is rather better and the Nector D'Or is my pick of the bunch, if your willing to go a fiver more.
