Glenmorangie
Scotland
Single Malt
The Original is the flagship single malt Scotch whisky from the Glenmorangie Distillery in the Highlands. Matured in a combination of first-and-second-fill American white oak casks for 10 years, the expression is a benchmark for creamy, approachable single malt. A long-running go-to dram for many whisky enthusiasts (including a few here at MoM Towers), this stuff is superb as an aepritif, though more than suitable for enjoying on a cooler evening.
Very fruity and thick. Rich notes of lemon, nectarine and apple. Spices.
Fresh and balanced, vanilla. Boiled sweets, very creamy, tiramisu, toffee.
Quite long, gentle, malty and very fruity.
Really smooth easy sipper and comparatively cheap. Not super complex but really nice dram with no real burn and a smooth, fruity finish. Lovely evening sipper. Would be a great intro scotch for newbies.
Certainly nice scotch, but not my go to. Pretty forward on the palate (almost too much - can overwhelm the tip of the tongue a bit if you ask me), with hefty whack of citrus - although not mentioned here, I also taste some almond/marzipan on the finish. Lovely every once in a while, but a bit repetitive on multiple tastings. More interesting than Glenfiddich, but also more of a novelty - definitely got tired of it my the end of the bottle.
Not sure if this is a bad batch. I get mostly vodka an orange peel. Prefer Monkey Shoulder and would grab The Arran 10 eveytime over this for only a few more $. Maybe 2.5 stars is unfair butI have parked the bottle and wont be getting it out soon.
Just starting my journey into Whisky. Not sure how to pick out all the different flavours that some people get but I will say that it tastes very nice so I will be replacing it very soon.
My first single malt years ago that got me into the malt game. A classic.
