Part of Glenmorangie’s Prestige Range, this 18 year old spent its first 15 years in American white oak bourbon casks. After this time, 30% was transferred to Oloroso sherry casks where it spent its final days, as the rest remained in bourbon casks. After 18 years has passed in total, the whisky was reunited and bottled at 43% ABV. A thick, creamy and fruity single malt Scotch whisky presented in a wonderfully elegant bottle. It certainly looks prestigious.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Creamy and tangy notes of citrus, cinnamon, stewed fruits and caramel-drizzled pannacotta.
The palate is tropical and creamy with nectarines in yoghurt, acacia honey, peaches in cream and butterscotch.
Ends on tangy oak and grilled grapefruit with plenty of dark sugar caramelised on top…
Absolutely outstanding dram. If you enjoy a fruit and honey palate...this one is for you. I enjoyed everything about this scotch from pour to finale. Not easily compared to other bottles in my arsenal such as Yamazaki 18, JW Blue, JW Platinum, JW Green, Hibiki Harmony or Monkey Shoulder. Each label is unique and stands out in its price range. This bottle is a true joy and its sweet flavor and after taste can be appreciated by novice or experienced palate. Take a chance and grab a bottle...at this price...you will be pleasantly surprised.
This scotch taste like scotch should without all of the burning pungent alcohol fumes. Its got butterscotch, creme brûlée, dried fruit, and a tasty wood finish. It is by far my favorite having tried varieties from all regions.
Are you guys all reviewing the same whisky (have you even sampled it). Some have it 1 star or less; some 5 star and raving about it!
Not sure if its in my head but have revisted this one with a glencairn glass. I was initially dissapointed with the first few tries if this but on my 2nd revisit with a glencairn I'm shocked just how different it is. On the nose i get the smooth, forward caramel of sweet brown sugar fading to honey. The taste stays sweet to match the nose but not cloying and lingers to a citrus finish. Maybe the glass has made a difference, I'm half way through the bottle and only just starting to enjoy!
I'm normally into peaty/smokey stuff, often at cask strength. But this is the sort of thing that anyone who appreciates whisky can love. It's Glenmorangie done really well.
