Glenmorangie
Scotland
Single Malt
Part of Glenmorangie’s Prestige Range, this 18 year old spent its first 15 years in American white oak bourbon casks. After this time, 30% was transferred to Oloroso sherry casks where it spent its final days, as the rest remained in bourbon casks. After 18 years has passed in total, the whisky was reunited and bottled at 43% ABV. A thick, creamy and fruity single malt Scotch whisky presented in a wonderfully elegant bottle. It certainly looks prestigious.

Creamy and tangy notes of citrus, cinnamon, stewed fruits and caramel-drizzled pannacotta.
The palate is tropical and creamy with nectarines in yoghurt, acacia honey, peaches in cream and butterscotch.
Ends on tangy oak and grilled grapefruit with plenty of dark sugar caramelised on top…
I first started on the 10 year when I was a young 20 something so I won’t let my nostalgia influence me when grading the 18. I simply crave the 18 when I decide on other drams. It ignites my fading palate into flurry of ambiguous flavours of wood and vanilla and a sweetness I can’t quite pinpoint. The intensity continues all the way to the aftertaste. There is a nice, but not intrusive burn to soothe the soul which could trick you into drinking a lot more.
Tuath glass showing burnished gold. The nose shows lights notes of flower, almond, and vanilla. The palate is very smooth with a clean oak backbone throughout with a moderate umami on the finish.
Great tasting whisky..too bad we can’t get it in Canada now. Got a bottle from Alberta about 10 years ago. Lovely?
Beautiful nose. Taste doesn’t have the it factor but is well balanced. Too much alcohol taste though.
Has a smooth oak finish with the right cleansing burn that a true single malt drinker knows and relishes . The smooth almond taste truly brings the perfect flavour blend with the vanilla and dried fruit that makes me appreciate the superiority that only time tested experience and a true taste for the finer things that make life so spectacular can relate to 18 yr old extremely rare was a treat and a true pleasure to experience and true honour to have been lucky enough to be counted amongst the few who got to enjoy such extravagance .
