    Glenkinchie 12 Year Old

The flagship expression from the Glenkinchie distillery, one of the stalwarts of the Lowlands. A fantastic introduction to the region, Glenkinchie 12 Year Old shows off the characteristic lightness and grassy elements that Lowland whiskies are known for, with nods to cooked fruit and Sauternes wine along the way. Brilliant single malt to enjoy as an aperitif on a warm evening.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

A light, aromatic nose with hints of barley malt, almonds, hazelnuts and manuka honey/beeswax.

    Palate

Very fruity palate with a mix of stewed fruits, dessert wine, apple peels and honey. Becomes quite oaky late palate.

    Finish

A medium-length finish with barley and freshly mown grass…

    Honey and heather

So this is the last of Diageo's classic malts of scotland range that I hadn't tried so after some searching picked up a bottle today. Initial taste is lightly charred oak followed by honey and sweet grains with a nice floral/fruity finish.I am normally a peat head but I love how grassy this one tastes it's like taking a stroll through a meadow I love it. Sort of reminiscent of dalwhinnie 15 but smoother and fruitier this was definitely worth the effort it took to obtain it. The Sugarbear

Oatmeal in sprintime invade old Edinburgh

A refreshing apple cheeked bottle of bliss: hints of honey and a trickle of grape juice and plums nose of hay and oats burst of gold tipped greenery and a long finish of sweet ceylon Dimbula tea.

    Smooth

I can understand some people thinking this is bland. It doesn't have a massive character or a flavour profile you could hang your hat on, but MAN this thing is smooooooooth! Just enough florals to keep it worthwhile and a touch of heat in the finish to remind you what you're drinking. A really great easy drinker.
