Glenglassaugh Pedro Ximenéz Sherry Wood Finish

The Glenglassaugh distillery launched their Wood Finishes series in late 2017, marking the first time they've ever released cask-finished expressions. Very exciting stuff! This particular bottling was initially aged in bourbon casks before being moved over to Pedro Ximenéz for up to two years.

    Best sweet whisky under £100

My favourite "under £100"whisky of 2019 + 2020. If you like them sweet - this is for you. I would personally drink this over Glendronach's Allardice even if they were equally priced! I've had a or 3 Allardices and at least six bottles of this stuff (with another 4 in the cupboard.) So while I can't get poetic about whisky - I can certainly put it away!

Sticky, silky smooth and laden with raisiny, Sherry flavour.

I've tried hundreds over the years or all ages and regions, and this is my absolute favourite whisky. It's sticky, silky smooth and laden with raisiny, Sherry flavour. Coupled with some Lindt Dark Orange chocolate, it's just the perfect ending to a meal or an evening treat.

Amazing value and far too easy to drink!

I've nearly come to the end of the one bottle I bought. I wish I'd bought 10 as it is so nice! I did manage to find another at a higher price and I will Tey and hold onto it as it really should only go up in value. There is no age but I would suggest it is at least 15. The bourbon has given it a smooth sweetness like a good toffee sauce and the pedro ximenez has just rounded it off so as not to be overly sweet. On the nose I get wheetabix made with warm milk! Obviously I'm not a professional taster but that was the first thing I got!

    Sweetness overload

Classic sherry notes. maple syrup, vanilla, dark fruits, coffee biscuit, quite Macallan-y. palate was a little bit thin and shortly delivered w.r.t the nose despite at 46%. finish: dark fruits, christmas cake, medium. cask influence overpower malt character. NAS is a let down.

    Really good! Surprised & impressed

Some history... Took a sample of Glenglassaugh Torfa, as I'd never had anything from the distillery and I'm a geek, like that. I was pleasantly surprised by it and so ordered a bottle of the Revival. Sadly, a sulphurous edge rendered it barely good enough to be added to tea and that's been that for over a year. Took a sample of this, as I couldn't resist the PX label (a wonderful thing, particularly with peated whiskies) but still wasn't expecting a lot. However, it's really good. Love the espresso & chilli-chocolate finish - reminds me of the Dalmore 12, possibly my favourite 'budget' single malt. Ian
