    Glenglassaugh 12 Year Old

A milestone moment for the Glenglassaugh distillery, which fired its stills back up in 2008 after over two decades of silence. After that reawakening, a growing stash of single malt has been patiently maturing in the distillery's coastal warehouses, under the watchful eye of master blender Rachel Barrie. 2023 sees the launch of this brand new flagship 12-year-old single malt. Drawn from a selection of bourbon, sherry, and red wine casks, it's layered with soft stone fruits, toasted vanilla, softly salted chocolate, and sweet, nutty meringue.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Brimming with apricot, fig rolls, candied nuts, and waves of sea breeze.

    Palate

That sweet stone fruit continues on the palate, with toasty notes of vanilla, and creamy hazelnut meringues.

    Finish

Softly salted cherry chocolate, and a lingering nuttiness with candied pistachio, and a delicious reminder of Daim bars.

    Incredible

Similar to Talisker but much better. Less coastal spray but so much more ripe fruits, berries and subtle peat. Definitely buying again. Loved by all my family who tried it.

Best core release of recent years.

Fabulous whisky from an underrated distillery.

    A new one for me

I had never heard of this before, so I thought I'd give it a try, I'm so glad I did. An excellent whisky, one of, if not the best I've tried. And I will certainly but it again.

    No go

The bottle says luscious waves of ripe fruit carried on the ocean breeze, but I'd say it's closer to pungent waves of dust blowing off an ashtray.

    Excellent whisky

I has three options to choose from. This one, Portsoy and Sandend. It was hard to choose, but at least I didn't pick wrong one, this is good. It kicks pretty hard at first, but add some water, let it be a few minutes and it opens up. I like this one very much and will try Sandend and Portsoy too.
