Glenglassaugh 10 Year Old 2009 (cask 559)
A single cask, smoky Glenglassaugh! Released as part of the distillery's Coastal Cask Collection, it was distilled from peated barley in 2009 (just a year after it restarted production once more) and left to mature in a single bourbon cask in the Highland coastal warehouses. Just 191 bottles were released. Interestingly, the cask number for this one was #559, while the whisky itself was bottled at 55.9% ABV. We don't know if this was planned, but we find it pretty cool all the same.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Salted caramel and smoky barley, with lemon blossom, damp oak and earthy vanilla.
Palate
Tropical sweetness, with coconut sorbet leading into chilli spice, vanilla fudge and smoked black pepper.
Finish
Dry, sweet and smoky, with tobacco and rhubarb lingering.
