This is the first chance to try whisky produced by the recently re-opened Glenglassaugh Distillery.
It was closed in 1986 but resumed production in 2008. This revival bottling is the first whisky to be made at the distillery since it reopened. Matured in a mixture of first and refill bourbon casks, this was finished for 6 months in first-fill oloroso sherry butts.
Sweet caramel and toffee with notes of nutty Sherry, milk chocolate and honey. Ripe plums, red berries and oranges. Caramelised sugar and earthy, charred oak.
Sweet, rounded and creamy. Oranges, plums, cherry and walnuts, chocolate, honey-mead, Sherry and soft, spiced oak.
Medium with warming mulled-wine spices, Sherry and caramel.

It's exactly what it says on the tin....and more
Creamy mouthfeel, sweet and zesty taste, bourbon in the aftertaste. The flavours don't really seem to get together, the whisky is clearly a bit too young, but for it's price range it's still a good whisky. The only whiskies in it's price range that, imo surpass this one, would be Glendronach 12, - Hielan and Benriach Heart of Speyside. Two brands that just happen to also be part of the Brown-Forman group.
Nectar....
Lovely, pleasing and full of flavors. Definitely a nice dram to have on hand.
use of first full casks makes it flavoursome and full on but crude. The bourbon and sherry flavours are direct and unmediated. At this price point not awful but there are a lot of nicer whiskies out there for a similar price.
