The second release in Glenfiddich's Experimental Series is their Project XX (pronounced 'twenty') expression, bringing together 20 Glenfiddich experts to create something eclectic and new. To be precise, 20 Glenfiddich brand ambassadors from 16 countries all over the world each picked a cask from the Glenfiddich warehouse. The 20 chosen whiskies were then married, and later recreated by Malt Master Brian Kinsman (partly by recipe - casks types, ages, volumes etc. - but partly through expert assessment of aroma and quality). It's a whisky that would never have come to exist any other way.
This smells like a bit of a beastie, lots of woody spicy notes, toffee and orange peel. Clearly some serious cask action going on here.
Lots of wood: cloves, cinnamon and vanilla with tingly wood tannins, all wrapped up with some sweet fudge notes.
Long and layered, with lingering notes of espresso and dark chocolate.

Red apple and strawberries on the nose. Tasting like: Glenmorangie + bourbon + Glenfiddich 18 = Glenfiddich XX. Smooth, fruity, very deep and full flavored. Long final.. berries candies. Love it! Better and more complexe than IPA in my opinion. Would rebuy anytime.
Very smooth and easy to enjoy. Good flavors and nice lingering mouth taste.
With 20 Barrels, how could you go wrong? 17 Bourbon Barrels, 1 Port Pipe and 2Sherry casks, ='s yummy classic goodness. For a NAS whisky, this is well rounded and luxurious. Its deep and explorable. Delicious neat. Four drops of water and a little time (cause I'm nerdy that way) it just explodes. Rich wood abounds with brown sugar glazing. Raisin bread, Green Apples, cinnamon and plenty more. Drinks older than I believe it to be. It's just dammed good and I'm happy to have experienced it. Note: 1st bottle after release. Hope the next is as good as it is supposed to be a full time expression.
It’s a good whisky but I can’t help but feel the marketing is a a bit over the top and comes off as almost misleading. Like including the cask numbers in the infographic when it’s clearly a HUGE production and not nearly limited to one batch. Like calling it “XX” when the whisky regulations state that it’s not allowable to market something with a name that might falsely imply an age statement. Like not responding to an e-mail I sent asking for details on the release. I don’t know. It’s a really decent whisky but can’t say I’m fully satisfied with the (lack of) transparency. As far as the whisky itself, it's a really nice, yeasty, sweet blend with lots of character. Just the right amount of sherry and port. A good age on it. No real complaints expect that I wish I knew more about the whisky itself. :) Disagree with the other commenter and personally find this one far better than the IPA release.
I was expecting more after the IPA which was really something different. It was sharp and harsh on the palate. Anyway it is not that bad for that money
