The second release in Glenfiddich's Experimental Series is their Project XX (pronounced 'twenty') expression, bringing together 20 Glenfiddich experts to create something eclectic and new. To be precise, 20 Glenfiddich brand ambassadors from 16 countries all over the world each picked a cask from the Glenfiddich warehouse. The 20 chosen whiskies were then married, and later recreated by Malt Master Brian Kinsman (partly by recipe - casks types, ages, volumes etc. - but partly through expert assessment of aroma and quality). It's a whisky that would never have come to exist any other way.
This smells like a bit of a beastie, lots of woody spicy notes, toffee and orange peel. Clearly some serious cask action going on here.
Lots of wood: cloves, cinnamon and vanilla with tingly wood tannins, all wrapped up with some sweet fudge notes.
Long and layered, with lingering notes of espresso and dark chocolate.

Disappointed with this one, IPA experimental for me was outstanding, project xx lacks the intensity I got fro the IPA relationship, looking forward to the next experiment
Nose is ver pleasing. Hint of licorice, floral, wood, spice. Tongue is smooth, floral, spices. Aftertaste is long, spice.
J'adore
Nose: strong woody notes with hints of christmas spices and fruit Palate: tannins that mix well with spices and rich (almost surgary) sweetness Finish: lingering and warming with the bitterness of dark chocolate
Project XX is a beautiful GF expression, on the nose it’s sweet sticky raisins to start, oaky, spices and honey. Sharp on the palette then fruity and salty with a long lingering finish of honey. Well worth the try.
