Scotland
Single Malt
Glenfiddich
A tremendous addition to the Experimental Series from Glenfiddich, combining the influences of Scotland and Somerset! This single malt has been finished in casks that previously held Somerset Pomona Spirit (a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice) from the Somerset Cider Brandy Co.! This experiment came about after Glenfiddich's Malt Master Brian Kinsman paid a visit to the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. to meet with its Master Distiller Matilda Temperley. After a stroll around the vintage orchards, the idea was born, the casks were sent from Somerset to Scotland and filled with a core of delicious malt, before being left to ripen. Top stuff for sipping on a warm evening, perhaps after a nice glass of cider.
Crisp green apple peels, a whiff of vanilla, and some tart, zesty notes of fermented fruit to balance sweet buttery toffee.
Packed with fruit – a host of pressed apples and hints of pear are followed up by zestier notes of orange and lemon peel. Spiced apple cake and a whiff of nutmeg bring warming spice.
The apple cider notes carry through to the finish, with pressed juices and red orchard fruits tangling with gentle oak spice and creamy barley.

A birthday gift . First taste Floral & citric , bitter/ sour aftertaste made me cringe . Not a smooth taste . This one is not for me. Ended up in my cups of tea .
It looked Interesting but it didn't pay off. My son bought this for my birthday so I can't complain but it's really not great. Orchard? It really doesn't work in my opinion. It's too young and that is what really hits you, notwithstanding that apples are not what I'm looking for. Glenfiddich always seems to be the one for gifts from people who know absolutely nothing about whisky, simply because they've heard of it. I never buy it and this certainly wouldn't encourage me to do so.
There was a time when "soapy" was highly prized in the whisky world - the old days of FWP Bowmores and an old 'toshan I remember. So, yes, this is soapy - and that's a good thing, in my opinion. Light, crisp, fruity and soapy. It's not brilliant but it's a good, well-made whisky at a decent price and it offers something different so this is a reasonable score rather than the knee-jerk 1/5 or 5/5 that everyone else seems to give without thought.
I love this. 100% Glenfiddich with just a hint of the apples from the barrels. Do not get all the negative reviews this is a decent malt with a hint of something different. To be applauded.
First try was ok. Second, after a few weeks was awful. Soapy taste and smelled like perfume. I’ve always said there’s no such thing as a bad whisky but this proved me wrong.
