Rum Finish

Let the great experiment... Continue! Glenfiddich has added a new expression to its Experimental Series, unveiling Fire & Cane in mid-2018. Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery's peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks - but not just any old rum casks. He's selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.
Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.
Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.
Lingering smokiness and sweetness.

Had it in a Rusty Nail as a substitute for my usual Johnny Walker Black. Great!
A lovely drink, got a bottle of this for Christmas; the peat is nice without being a predominant flavour, and there's a lot of rich, sugary, spicy goodness in there. Really nice finish. I'd heartily recommend this, it's a great dram. It's nothing like any of Glenfiddich's traditional offerings, either.
A very diverse taste! This is not a classic speyside malt. I have NEVER tasted a Glenfiddich like this. Nose: Toasted oak, candied fruits and raw sugar Palate: Nice bright grassy peat up front balanced beautifully with green apples, honeysuckle and sweet vanilla oak Finish: Smooth long campfire embers with pepper and sweet cinnamon spice
I'm not a glenfiddich fan but am collecting this series.. Good. On the palette but I wouldn't say very smokey or peaty.. Bit disappointed it doesn't come in a nice glenfiddich box.. Just the bottle as a collector I'd like it to have had its own box like the rest of the series so far
Mediocre if compared with Balvenie 14 Caribbean cask
