Rum Finish

Let the great experiment... Continue! Glenfiddich has added a new expression to its Experimental Series, unveiling Fire & Cane in mid-2018. Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery's peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks - but not just any old rum casks. He's selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.
Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.
Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.
Lingering smokiness and sweetness.

Weeelll it's all about the bottle these days isn't it? Piece in itself to be written there I think, this tinted glass that is becoming de rigueur ... Stick to clear or honest green - ok Black Bottle, you are excused. Anyway. Is it smoky, is it sweet? Who cares? It's drinkable. There's a hint of burnt sugar, a whisp of smoke, and as it is over 40% you can add a teaspoon of water to encourage it to flower. For me I'd take it over cooking Glenfidd any day, but, bottom line, it's only worth treating yourself to if it's heavily discounted. Enjoyable in it's own way, after all, a dram's a dram for a that - but heavy on the wallet...
Disappointing, harsh and tasted more like a blended whisky. Received as a gift and dare I say will most likely use in a whisky Mac!!!
I found it true to its name, first few sips fiery! Then as the throat acclimatised to it it mellowed off, but still with that hint of heat! Would I buy another probably not, find the IPA one a bit more mellow!
A nice whisky certainly one to have as a nice end of day dram
Best Glenfiddich I've had in a long time. Better than the Solera Reserve in my opinion. I'm usually unimpressed by Glenfiddich but this is good for the money
