Rum Finish

Let the great experiment... Continue! Glenfiddich has added a new expression to its Experimental Series, unveiling Fire & Cane in mid-2018. Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery's peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks - but not just any old rum casks. He's selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.
Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.
Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.
Lingering smokiness and sweetness.

It's as peaty as hell, and sweet thereafter! Love it! Boom!
Started off tasting like silicone that's gone through the dishwasher with a lemon tab. But over time the subtle smokey notes overtake and the lemon soapy taste disappears completely. It's not an overly peated malt and comparing it to Islay whiskies is pointless because it's not. If you like Glenfiddich then it's a no brainer to try something different.
Was expecting...well...more! Yes it has peat on the nose, a nice toffee apple and caramel taste but it doesn’t last long. Within only a few seconds it is gone. No complexity to it. It’s like a Bowmore but without the aftertaste. Bit disappointed.
A delicious smokey variation from the usual offerings from Glenfiddich. Hints of spice, caramel and peat make this a wonderful mouth feel and surprising offering. Pleasemake this a permanent addition to the GF lineup. Love it.
Delicious with honey, caramel and toasted toffee notes . Charred rum barrels make this a distinct diversion from your typicla Glenfiddich offerings. This is an experiment that went well. Very well.
