Rum Finish

Let the great experiment... Continue! Glenfiddich has added a new expression to its Experimental Series, unveiling Fire & Cane in mid-2018. Malt master Brian Kinsman has given some of the distillery's peated single malt a three-month finishing period in rum casks - but not just any old rum casks. He's selected rum casks from a variety of South American countries to finish this whisky, which ought to play nicely with the burly peat notes at its core.
Billowing soft peat notes, like distant smoke on the wind. Rich sweet toffee with zesty fresh fruit notes and spiciness.
Like a Highland peat campfire, with oak notes and toffee. Sharp green fruit, sweet baked apple and soft smoke.
Lingering smokiness and sweetness.

This is definitely an interesting one, but for me an experiment that absolutely works. I like a good sipping rum, so enjoyed the slightly sweetness from the rum barrels, though it is quite subtle and works nicely alongside the mild snokiness. All in all, I would get this again in a heartbeat.
Beautiful whiskey. Especially if you understand that is sample from experimental series. Not strong, not a full peat taste. Quite balanced
Absolutely awful, tastes like dentist's mouthwash!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY, buy the REAL Glenfiddich, wish I could get a refund!!!
A great introductory whiskey for someone like me who is unsure on the smoke but loves Speyside sweet & toffee style whiskies. This is sweet & rich on the palate & then a lovely warming bit of smoke that lingers but not for too long & is not overpowering. Very nice drink.
I am quite enjoying this dram, doubt I’ll ever get another bottle though. Kept on seeing it on the shelves and knew that until I tried it I wouldn’t rest!
