A fabulous 21 Year Old bottling from Glenfiddich, and as its name suggests this particular single malt was finished in casks used previously to age Caribbean rum for four months! Some cask influence in the form of tropical fruit and spicy ginger to be found in here.
Barley sugar, malt and dark brown sugar, with orange peels, marmalade, manuka honey, chocolate and foam bananas.
Full, fruitcake, spices, buttery vanilla, malty, with oak and candied ginger.
Long, with notes of mochaccino and marmalade.
Vanilla on the nose, Silky smooth on the palate like chocolate mousse, fruity lingering finish! Delicious, superb SMW!
Superb whiskey! Best value!
On reading the reviews the reviews posted of 'not worth the money' or 'disappointing', I can only think that the reviewers had so little understanding of what they had bought, that they missed the point. Glenfiddich 21 is NOT a whisky you buy to drink with the lads whilst the football is on. The idea of such a one, is to save it for a special occasion. I treated myself to one in July '14 in advance of my 30th birthday in the following February. This is the intent with the sale anything beyond an 18 year old from any distillery because, to open and drink it straight from delivery isn't going to give you the best experience. For my part, that was the intent, although there was an unexpected birth in the December (nephew was due in March) which, was reason enough for it to be opened at Christmas. Having let it sit there for five months with (I suppose) different ambient temperatures to wherever it came from, it was as described and was very smooth - like drinking mineral water would be the mot juste - and a great celebratory day for all concerned. Three months later, when I went back to it, it had changed and had what I can only call a little more depth to the flavours - this attained by obeying the rule that you hold the whisky in the mouth for as many seconds as the years on the bottle and it's a different experience again. Best advice to all: buy it again and when you get it, leave it until a just occasion arises.
This is the nicest Single malt I've tasted cgeers
Me and my father always go for Glenfiddich, when we can. Been his favourite for many years now.
