Glenfiddich
Scotland
Single Malt
This 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenfiddich's core range was matured in a mix of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
Loads of fruit. Zesty grapefruit, baked toffee apples. Dry, chocolate Flake-y wood and cinnamon.
Candied fruits and Glenfiddich freshness balances richer notes of dried apricot, more cinnamon and toffee, ginger and dry Sherry.
Peels and a touch of salted toffee.
A wonderfully rich and enjoyable Glenfiddich single malt.
This is quite nice but in comparison to some £30 bottles I don’t think the difference in quality is in keeping with difference in price. If someone gave you a half of this in a blind tasting I doubt you would pick it out as a more aged expensive whisky.
Got this as a gift. In Holland this is bottled at 40%, which is a bit of a shame. The quality is good. Warming, fruity (baked apple) and there is a good bitterness and spiciness from the casks. It’s an easy sipper, but maybe to easy. It’s very watery and adding a drop of cold water will only make matters worse. This might not be my favourite style of whisky, and for me It’s not worth the money. Still it’s a a very enjoyable drink, preferably after dinner. Cheers x
There seems to be a bit if snobbery surrounding this one. It certainly isn't a challenging or overly complex dram, but I found it delicious. So drinkable, and a good deal more depth than something like the 12yo. Side by side with Glenmoragie 18, Glenlivet 15 and this, held its own. Love it
Wish I had researched and read the reviews before spending money on this. Smooth but very light on the nose and palate. Water whisky? ugh...
I used to buy this all the time up until about 2 years ago when the price of it just kept on rising and rising, 5 years ago this was between 67-74 pound. It’s now getting on for £100 if you include postage. It’s a lovely dram but it ain’t no £90 whisky, especially when bottled at a Piss poor 40% . Come on Glenfiddich, if you’re going to hike the price to this sort of level at least take the ABV up with it.
