Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Loads of fruit. Zesty grapefruit, baked toffee apples. Dry, chocolate Flake-y wood and cinnamon.

Palate: Candied fruits and Glenfiddich freshness balances richer notes of dried apricot, more cinnamon and toffee, ginger and dry Sherry.

Finish: Peels and a touch of salted toffee.

Overall: A wonderfully rich and enjoyable Glenfiddich single malt.

Glenfiddich 18 Year Old Reviews

Fantastic if not overly complex

There seems to be a bit if snobbery surrounding this one. It certainly isn't a challenging or overly complex dram, but I found it delicious. So drinkable, and a good deal more depth than something like the 12yo. Side by side with Glenmoragie 18, Glenlivet 15 and this, held its own. Love it

Underwhelming

Wish I had researched and read the reviews before spending money on this.

Smooth but very light on the nose and palate. Water whisky? ugh...

Nice, but not worth the money

I used to buy this all the time up until about 2 years ago when the price of it just kept on rising and rising, 5 years ago this was between 67-74 pound. It’s now getting on for £100 if you include postage. It’s a lovely dram but it ain’t no £90 whisky, especially when bottled at a Piss poor 40% . Come on Glenfiddich, if you’re going to hike the price to this sort of level at least take the ABV up with it.

Good whiskey but not my favourite at this price point.

Tried in a Glenfiddich tasting box and this was by far the best of the 3 (12 year and 15 year being the others). Its still quite middle of the road as flavour profiles go but whats there is punchy with rich sherry tones and spices. I prefer others at this price point but the joy of whiskey is we can all enjoy things our own way. Its certainly not a rip off at least.

Garbage

This is terrible juice. I don’t understand the rave reviews. It’s thin, lifeless and tastes like piss. It was a gift from my kids who don’t know anything about whiskey or scotch. They could have bought anything and it would have been better

It's just lovely and smooth i love it

the only spirit i drink i just love Glenfiddich

Buy the 15yo

Disrespectful to the consumer and the spirit itself to give it 18 years in wood only to dilute it to 40%. Poor form that unsurprisingly results in a thin whisky without character or depth. The 15yo Solera is the Glenfiddich worth buying until they release an older bottle with more integrity.

Basic

Smooth yes, but lacking in flavour. A higher ABV is needed for this to be taken seriously

Bit bland for 18 YO

As a lower price 18 year old for Aunties to buy for the 18th Birthday of nephews (& nieces !) it is smooth and universally acceptable for new drinkers.

But unexceptional by other 18 yo standards, Highland Park, Talisker , Glenlivet will appeal more to seasoned Malt drinkers. Would be interesting to try a non chill filtered expression @ 43 % / 46%

Well worth the money.

This is a good whisky, quite sweet due to the sherry cask no doubt but it has a very good balance of flavours. It stands up well against other whiskies at this price. I by most of mine from the society and I was surprised how good this was.
To put the price in perspective this will give you 13 doubles to enjoy and sip slowly,Good wine costs at least £15.00 and only gives about 4 glasses per bottle and so comes in at a sumilar price. On a cold winter night there is no comparison and you don’t wake up with a red wine headache.
