This 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenfiddich's core range was matured in a mix of oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
Loads of fruit. Zesty grapefruit, baked toffee apples. Dry, chocolate Flake-y wood and cinnamon.
Candied fruits and Glenfiddich freshness balances richer notes of dried apricot, more cinnamon and toffee, ginger and dry Sherry.
Peels and a touch of salted toffee.
A wonderfully rich and enjoyable Glenfiddich single malt.
Tried in a Glenfiddich tasting box and this was by far the best of the 3 (12 year and 15 year being the others). Its still quite middle of the road as flavour profiles go but whats there is punchy with rich sherry tones and spices. I prefer others at this price point but the joy of whiskey is we can all enjoy things our own way. Its certainly not a rip off at least.
This is terrible juice. I don’t understand the rave reviews. It’s thin, lifeless and tastes like piss. It was a gift from my kids who don’t know anything about whiskey or scotch. They could have bought anything and it would have been better
the only spirit i drink i just love Glenfiddich
Disrespectful to the consumer and the spirit itself to give it 18 years in wood only to dilute it to 40%. Poor form that unsurprisingly results in a thin whisky without character or depth. The 15yo Solera is the Glenfiddich worth buying until they release an older bottle with more integrity.
Smooth yes, but lacking in flavour. A higher ABV is needed for this to be taken seriously
