A tremendous offering from Glenfarclas, distilled in 1977, two years after the installation of a pair of new stills, bringing the distillery's total up to six. Matured for a whopping 42 years in a single fourth fill oloroso hogshead, just 101 decanters of this were produced, bottled with natural colour, at a cask strength of 48.6% ABV.
Aromas you would usually associate with a much older dram, the vapours offer a lovely sweetness of honey, candy floss, and barley sugar.
Light, punchy, zesty fruit on the front of the mouth. With a few drops of water a much bigger sherry flavour with all the aromas of a forest floor presents itself. This is a fantastic marriage of oak, sherry, and spirit, finishing with a waxy, oily apricot warmth.
Cumulates in Seville orange, fresh oak, showcasing that well balanced, classic Glenfarclas Cask Strength flavour from the 1970s.
