    Glenfarclas 15 Year Old

A wonderfully sherried 15 year old dram from Glenfarclas, boasting oodles of dried fruit notes. It’s bottled at 46% ABV simply because this was the strength that George Grant’s grandfather preferred it at. Happily, this also results in the Speysider boasting a big, juicy, Christmas cake profile. A fabulously complex Scotch while also being easily drinkable.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Intense, powerful sherry. Cream sherry, certainly – Pedro Ximenez? almost… a touch of peppermint? An almost rancio quality to this. Smells older than 15.

    Palate

Raisins, more sherry, orange peel, walnuts, dates.

    Finish

Incredibly long, complex, more of the walnuts again.

    Overall

Water draws out sweetness. This is Christmas cake, not whisky. Simply astonishing.

    A dissapointment

Tastes more like a middle of the road 12 y.o. single malt.

    Eye Wateringly good

One of my favourite speysiders, an absolute fruitcake of a whisky as mentioned, lovely rich hints of dried fruits, sherry and christmas pudding. Ending with a velvety sweetness reminiscent of sugary dates. Unbelieveable stuff. Highly recommend this, its an absolute bargain for the money, a LOT of whisky for your buck. This is no entry level malt, Enjoy!

    The Best..

15 yr old whisky I've tasted. I love my sherry cask whisky and this is by far the best. Buy without hesitation.

    Great, but...

... the 15 year-old from GlenDronach is even better. I wouldn't want to be without either of them, but if I was forced to pick one, the GlenDronach would come slightly higher on my list.

    This has layers and layers

Nose of spice, caramels, hints of maple, delicate smokiness. Slight oakiness, cork, rope with a hint of minerality and pitch. More wood expands on immediate taste with that warm mouth feel Revealing sugary, maple, cork, spiceiness with a full rounded Slightly oily mouth feel. This now reveals the Yamazaki 12s woodiness And fiery tones
