Glenfarclas
Scotland
Single Malt
Here we have an absolute classic Speysider from a long-time family-owned distillery. This 25 year old single malt from Glenfarclas spent its days in 100% Oloroso sherry casks. It’s complex and delicately sherried, a whisky that’s sure not to disappoint. It won gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge and makes a great after dinner treat. Awesome.
A touch of menthol. Classic Sherry notes, less pronounced than the 15 year old perhaps, but the complexity is greater.
Incredibly clean central palate, but amazingly tangy. Really zingy top notes. Sherry and creamy barley, hints of gingerbread and nutty chocolate.
Very, very long and complex finish, oak-rich, hints of smoke, cocoa, buttery...
One of our all-time favourite Speyside malts.
I really don't understand what the fuss is about here? Thin and lacking any real depth or character.
Great Value for a classic sherry from one of the few family owned distilleries.
Yeah ! the Kiwi Chap at Glenfarclas was very nice when he let me taste the 25yr old ! Its a lovely deep, carmally, fruity/woody flavor, beautiful afternotes and glows down your neck !!
I bought a bottle for christmas at a reasonable price of £99, great value for a 25year old malt, and although i enjoyed it very much, maybe expected a little more from it than i got. maybe a few more % abv, maybe a little more 'sherriness', maybe a little more of the fruit tastes associated with some sherried drams would have made a difference, i'm not sure, but i'll re-visit it again at some time, just not now.
An extraordinarily balanced and wonderfully complex sherried Speyside. You can fall asleep in the nose alone; breathtaking cream, sherry and honey- without a trace of sharpness. Balance, balance balance: so smooth it can be imbibed without a drop of water. But a drop or two serves to lengthen one of the outstandingly gorgeous finishes you’ll ever taste. Incomparable: a work of genius.
