Glenfarclas 105 is a superb cask strength whisky, with a history that can be traced to 1968. When the original incarnation was released that year, Glenfarclas became the first distillery to release a barrel proof single malt whisky.
The bottling was eventually re-named to 105, referring to its alcohol content in British Proof, which equates now to 60% ABV.
The 105 doesn't carry an age statement presently, making it rare among Glenfarclas bottlings. Although, there are suggestions that it is matured for 8-10 years in a combination of both ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels.
Drying, assertive and richly spiced, the 105 makes for a superb dram, one the Malt Maniacs rated as the best “Bang for your buck” whisky in 2004. Add a drop of water if you please to explore its depth - and don't be put off by that ABV, there's plenty of flavour here to enjoy.
Great depth, Sherry. Creamy and nutty. Honey on toast, touch of smoky coffee.
Silken, spicy and peppery oak. Almond, praline, hazelnut, dried peels, fruity. Touch of Armagnac, hint of rancio perhaps?
Long, peppery and nutty.

tried a bottle before in 2014 and was able to obtain a new bottle for a fair price.Still very good, silky and smooth.Warming when it goes down without water.Absolutely needs water to open up.Hazelnut and coffee, In my opinion very good sherry butts were used here.I thought tasting a little cognac in the background. Very spicy.
A really nice whisky. You get a very strong alcohol burn very powerful. Lots of spice and oak not a sipping whisky. Really rich I couldn't drink a lot of this in one sitting it really coats your mouth.
I start to like this more and more. I don't know why but I always end the night with it. Its getting better and better and I've already finished 3 bottle's of it. You can go anyway with this whisky, Neat, Water, add a drop of red wine and you will be amazed. Great whisky and def a bang for your buck!. Buy this motherf*cker! :)
over twenty years of malt whisky and the I tried 105 with a small dash of water and tasted- now 105 is my first choice
Cheap and a good tasting dram. Interesting flavours. Don't think more, buy it, 9/10 this will be something you enjoy.
