The GlenDronach 18 Year Old - Allardice

The GlenDronach 18 year old Allardice is named after the distillery’s founder, James Allardice. The Highlander was matured completely in Oloroso sherry casks, and was originally released in 2009 following the distillery changing hands back in 2008. An exceptional fruity sherried single malt.

Please note: We're afraid we can't guarantee which vintage you will receive. It'll still be yummy GlenDronach no matter the vintage, mind!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Sherry notes so thick you need a knife to cut them! There's a hint of old rum in there too, with pineapple and brown sugar in tow.

    Palate

Christmas cake, rum again, chocolate-coated hazelnut, runny honey and a hint of Sauternes.

    Finish

Fresh blackcurrant, blueberry pancakes with a generous helping of maple syrup.

    Wow!!

This is a stunning whisky, I'm a great favourite of the 15 year old revival, but this gem of a whisky is up there with anything I"ve ever tasted! Sublimely smooth with a finish that just goes on and on, just brilliant!

    Hidden Gem

Simply amazing bang for buck ratio. Totally blew me away from the first sip. Better experience than Highland Park 18 for half the price. If you are into sherried whiskies, this is a must!

All 18 years in sherry casks

One of my favorite single malt Scotches. If you've only ever had a whisky "finished" in a sherry cask, this is a much different experience. Glendronach 18-year old spends the entire time in sherry casks and the the nose, palate, and finish are all a great balance of malt and sherry. Every day is special when you have a dram of G18.

    'smooth'

This word must be the most over-used, trite, dull and totally uninspiring way of describing a whisky. I see it on almost every review. x

    Smooth, smooth, smooth!

Delicate flavours, smooth - have I said that already? - an exceptionally fine dram.
