Glendalough Double Barrel Irish Whiskey is a single grain Irish whiskey, initially matured in American bourbon barrels before enjoying a finishing period of six months in Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks. This comes bottled at 42% ABV, brought down to this strength by Wicklow mountain water. A rather tasty release presented by Glendalough, rich in vanilla, caramel, Christmas spices and dried fruit notes.
A creamy, malty nose begins with rich vanilla, white chocolate and buttery fudge. Notes of cooking apples, white grapes, marzipan icing and toasted oak form in the backdrop.
Succulent caramel, salty melted butter and crème anglaise provide a thick, decadent sweetness with a fruity underlay from blackberries and marmalade.
Polished oak and a hint of wood spice linger.

I'm not an expert by any means, but tell me if you don't get bubble gum on the nose. It's sweet, but a candylike sweetness, not fruity. Finish is smooth.
I'm on my second bottle of Double Barrel and I have to say it's probably one of the best whiskey I've ever tasted, & I've tasted quite a few. I just love its smooth vanilla flavor. I first tasted it at the Whiskey museum in Dublin & then visited Glendalough. I'm hoping that I get a bottle of 7 year old Glendalough for Christmas. Found it on sale at my local outlet for $28(US). Was very excited based on what I had seen here earlier. Opened it up and poured some in a glass with one cube of ice. Initial impression was not good - harsh smell, almost of petrol - very high alcohol sniff. Fortunately I braved it out. Wow! My favorite these days has been Teeling (as a benchmark), and I find base level Jameson/Bushmills to be harsher than I would like. Glendalough has just a little bit of the harshness, but also a hint of sweet (honey?) that makes it go down very easily. No burn on the throat at the end. If you can get over the initial sniff you will be very pleased!
Flavourful and sweet, this easy-drinking whiskey is distinctly Irish. Surprisingly good for such a young whiskey.
very nice whiskey nice and fruity if u like irish whiskey in general this will be rite up ur alley
