We love Glenburgie. It tastes like strawberry jam. There's plenty more going on in this tremendous 19 year old single cask bottling of ours though, distilled on 7th June 1995 and bottled 7th April 2015 (just a couple of months shy of its twentieth birthday). 151 bottles of wonderfully complex whisky were produced at natural cask strength. Glenburgie, of course, is one of the signature malts in the Ballantine's blends, the second best selling Scotch whiskies in the world.
"an irrepressible and irresistible high grade malt"- Jim Murray (93.5 Points)
Shortbread, shortbread and... strawberry jam! This continues with red apple and nutty nougat. Dig a little deeper for Honey-Nut Cheerios, thick caramel and a touch of cooked bell peppers.
Wonderfully rich and creamy, with lots of treacle, star-fruit, violet petals and yet more strawberry jam. Later on, there's some rather gorgeous notes of bonfire embers growing...
Pain au chocolat, more of that subtle bonfire, toasted almonds and dried coconut.
We were delighted when we got the sample for this one, and we think you'll like it too.

For me this is a lovely drop and delivers a fruity treat I have not encountered so often, very pleased to be one of the lucky 151 to get this one.
After living with this for a few months I'm upping the score. It is an absolute belter. Seriously, if MoM can find another cask like this one I'm going to be first in line. An absolutely stunning whisky.
This is a lovely rich whisky, but... Let it sit in the glass for a good 20 mins to open up before you aaproach it. Makes a world of difference.
