Single malt from Glenburgie, distilled in 2008 and matured for 13 years – initially in an ex-sherry butt, before a finishing in a first fill ex-Sauternes wine cask. The whisky was independently bottled up by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark collection. Superb stuff from the Speyside-based distillery.
Summer berries and sweet sultanas with biscuity malt and candied ginger.
Dense fruits and maple syrup, Jam roly-poly, a touch of dark chocolate arrives before baking spice warmth begins to build.
A touch of dried orange, nutty oak spice, and sweet butterscotch.
