Single Malt
Right, picture the scene. You're enjoying a wonderful Glenburgie whisky, and a thought pops into your head. "Oh, wait a minute, I have no idea how many stills Glenburgie has. I wonder if I can guess from having a taste of this whisky... Hmm... Maybe five?" So, in that situation, you would have been wrong. Which is fair enough. Not sure anyone could guess how many stills a distillery has from tasting its whisky. However, if you pick up this bottling of 10 year old Glenburgie from the Derestricted range, you'd have that information to hand, along with a medley of other marvellous distillery facts, all right there on the label!
Oh, also, Glenburgie has four stills. Five was a pretty close guess.
Spring blossom and grassy meadows, a whole mess of strawberry laces, vanilla essence, digestive biscuits, salted popcorn.
Still packed with vanilla and grassy barley, now joined by butterscotch, honeydew melon, and a touch of spicy liquorice.
Lingering sweetness of panna cotta and eucalyptus.
Excellent value mid weight Speysider. I agree with the notes above . Main notes are orchard fruits . Excellent nose and palate ,the finish is pretty short but if you want a nice clean example of a rick solid Speyside malt this is spot on.
I absolutely love this single malt! On the nose I got orchard fruits ( green apples and pears), slight citrus (lemon) with a little hint of cloves. Palate wise I got apples again with pear drops rolled in lemon sherbet, honeydew melon, oat biscuit and slight peppery notes in the background. The finish was long, slight citrus with pear flavour dropping out and apples re-appearing, slightly dry but not waxy. I rate this a clear 9.1 out of 10 and would happily purchase again. BTW, the whisky is used as a blend filler for Johnny Walker!
