GlenAllachie
Scotland
Single Malt
A marvellously well-aged GlenAllachie here, aged for over two decades! This is the first batch of the 21 Year Old, and the single malt was bottled from five Pedro Ximénez puncheons and hogsheads filled in 1997 and 1998, blended by Billy Walker himself. Just 1,600 bottles were released at 51.4% ABV without chillfiltering, packed full of rich chocolate and spices alongside honeyed citrus.
Spiced dark chocolate, with roasted coffee bean, flamed orange peel and cinnamon sugar.
Classic sherried notes of Christmas cake, leading into more chocolate, spiced autumn fruit and candied peels.
Butterscotch lingers with gingersnap biscuits.
My word this is a lovely whisky. Had the pleasure of a tasting at the distillery and picked up a bottle immediately after Was worried the romance of being there had made me bias but on opening I was extremely happy. If anything it is better now as I know to savour every taste Incredibly rich and luxurious with a wonderful mouth feel. One that keeps you going back for more (shame there are so few of them)
