GlenAllachie 17 Year Old 2009 (cask 1426) - Oloroso Sherry Hogshead
A single cask Speysider from GlenAllachie here, distilled in 2009 and matured in an oloroso hogshead. Cask #1426 delivers that classic GlenAllachie weight, layered with sherry-driven depth and a slightly darker, more savoury edge. Bottled at a cask strength of 53% ABV, this has only a small outturn from a single cask, so don’t expect it to hang around.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Mocha and cocoa powder lead into dried apricot, plum, and cinnamon spice, with honeycomb sweetness, blood orange zest, and a touch of muscovado sugar.
Palate
Truffle and worn leather give way to dried orchard fruits, manuka honey, and demerara sugar, with raisin butter adding a soft, indulgent sweetness.
Finish
Lingering spice, dark sugar, and a gentle return of cocoa and dried fruit.
