A splendid addition to Gordon & MacPhail's independent Discovery series, this single malt hails from Speyside's GlenAllachie distillery. Matured in ex-bourbon casks for 14 years, it boasts rewarding layers of crisp fruit and creamy vanilla with a good helping of honeyed malt along the way.
Crisp fresh apples and pears, drizzled with honey. Chocolate wafers and vanilla pod follow, with sweet, honeyed sultanas.
Honeyed fruits continue on the palate with creamy praline and vanilla fudge. Oily barley brings some nuttiness, while oaken spices develop beneath.
A touch of lemon zest and more fresh vanilla bring things to a close, with gentle spice poking through.
