GlenAllachie 11 Year Old Grattamacco Cask Finish
One of a trio of intriguing single malts launched by GlenAllachie in 2021 for its Wine Cask Series! If you took a look at that name and thought "Wonder if it's something to do with wine casks...?", you'd be right on the money – all three have been finished in some excellent wine casks! This 11 year old expression was given a finishing period of nearly two years in barriques from the Grattamacco winery in Tuscany, imparting oodles of red fruit and orange zest notes.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Plum, fudge, clementine, mixed nuts with a drizzle of toffee.
Palate
Red grapes and another helping of plum. Oaky spices begin to grow here – think cassia, peppercorn, and nutmeg.
Finish
Toasty barley warmth, with hints of blackcurrant and citrus peels.
