Wine Cask
A release from GlenAllachie's Wine Cask Series, in which master blender Billy Walker takes Scotch whisky aged in American oak bourbon barrels and then transfers them into European wine barriques for secondary ageing. For this release, Walker created a distinctive twist, blending four exceptional wine cask finishes into one Cuvée Wine Cask Finish. This Cuvée edition, bottled in 2023, is a marriage of whisky aged in red wine barriques, picked from the French AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) regions of Languedoc and Médoc as well as Grattamacco and Recioto della Valpolicella barriques from Italy. The limited expression was bottled unchilfiltered with no added colouring at 48% ABV.
Bursting with pastel fruits, heather honey and dried red berries, with hints of ginger, caramelised biscuit and soft spice.
Layers of orchard fruits, orange zest and honeycomb, followed by notes of plum syrup, figs and glazed cherries.
A touch of cinnamon, ginger and red berries on the finish.
