For this Small Batch release, WM Cadenhead bottled a 12 year old single malt Scotch whisky from the Glen Spey distillery. It was distilled in 2001 and aged in bourbon hogsheads until 2014, when the whisky was independently bottled with an outturn of 738 bottles.

Pale, white wine coloured malt. Quite delicate and complex with almonds, soft fruits and a little spice - I get ginger and vanilla - sweetening to a touch of marzipan, once watered. Takes water quite well, for me. Mellow, spicy finish. There's an unusual (unusual; not unpleasant) sweet note which I can't quite 'get'. Nice. Interesting!
